Our names are Adam and Candace Crowston, and we would like to welcome you to the online home of Neaveh Cattery!  This website is dedicated to our much-loved hobby of raising and showing Persian and Exotic cats.

.:Our History:.

Early in 2003, we purchased our first Persian kitten named Duchess near our hometown in Ontario, Canada.  Duchess endearing personality got us hooked!  Shortly after Duchess joined our home, we registered the cattery name Nevaeh with the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) and the Canadian Cat Association (CCA).

In 2005 we decided that we were really interested in showing our cats and realized that our cats were not meeting the current bred standards in place.  We decided that if we were going to continue breeding cats, it must be for a purpose other than producing happy pet kittens, we wanted the whole package!  Our search began, we found a lovely red and white Persian kitten that we called Dahlia’s Aslan of Nevaeh. Aslan was shown extensively as a kitten, receiving many second and third best in show awards and making many finals!

After many years of admiring the Exotic breed, in 2007 we decided that we were ready jump in. Our search began; we spent days on the computer looking all over Canada and the United States searching for that special “one”.  Well we found him!  CH Katrina-Cat Cashmere Absolut, a blue and white exotic shorthair.  Cashmere again is the whole package; a sweet personality, fantastic head shape, a great body and remarkable coat.  During the 2007-2008 show season, Cashmere was awarded the title of 14th best cat in Canadian Cat Association’s Region 2.

.:Our Goal:.

The goal of our show and breeding program is to produce happy, healthy kittens that fit as closely as possible to their breed standards, and exhibit our cats and kittens in their best condition at sanctioned shows.

.:Health and Temperament:.

When selecting kitties for our breeding program, we choose them first by, their health and temperament, second by their phenotype (or good looks as it is known in the cat fancy) and third by their pedigree.  The health of our cats is very important to us; we raise our cats using a mixture of homeopathic and allopathic medicine with the guidance of our veterinarian.  Our breeding cats have also been DNA tested for the PKD gene.  Polycystic kidney Disease (PKD) is the most common congenital disease facing Persian cats today. PKD causes cysts to form and develop in the kidneys slowly causing them to cease functioning.  The Ultimate end of this disease is kidney failure.

.:Exhibition:.

Adam and I both really enjoy the challenge of exhibiting our cats; you can expect to see us occasionally exhibiting our cats at both CFA and CCA shows.

Please have a look around our site, if you have any questions please e-mail or call and we would be happy to answer them!
